I am a Professor of Finance at Alliance Manchester Business School, where I have been a faculty member since 2005, initially joining as an Assistant Professor. I hold a PhD in Economics and an MSc from the University of York, where I also served as a Teaching Fellow, and a BA in Economics from the University of Cagliari, Italy.
Currently, I coordinate the Accounting and Finance Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Programmes at Alliance Manchester Business School, having previously served as Director of the MSc Finance, MSc Finance and Economics, and MSc Finance and Business Economics programmes.
My research focuses on empirical corporate finance, with particular emphasis on ownership structures, governance and firm performance, capital structure, financing constraints, and firm risk-taking. I also explore broader themes in banking and behavioural finance, including the role of personal connections, gender dynamics, and the motherhood penalty.
