Corporate Finance (MSc)
This is a core module for all MSc programs in Accounting and Finance. The course explores fundamental corporate finance topics, including corporate financial policy, corporate governance, and investment decisions. I employ a diverse range of pedagogical tools, blending classic theories with advanced empirical research, case studies, and hands-on exercises using real firm data. Students consistently find this module engaging and appreciate the variety of teaching methods. In recognition of my teaching excellence, I was nominated for a teaching award as recently as 2022.
Advanced Corporate Finance (PhD)
This is a collaborative PhD module where different faculty members contribute their expertise. My section focuses on corporate risk-taking, drawing from my recent research papers in the field.
Introduction to Stata (MSc)
This introductory course equips MSc students with essential Stata skills for their dissertation research. Students learn how to work with raw datasets—importing, manipulating, and analyzing data within Stata’s environment. The course incorporates practical applications using common datasets such as Compustat, Worldscope/Datastream, and Orbis, ensuring students gain relevant hands-on experience. Numerous in-class exercises allow for practice with key commands and procedures. My practical, application-focused approach has been well received, earning me a nomination for teaching excellence in 2023.
Advanced Stata (PhD)
This 12-hour course is designed for PhD students seeking advanced Stata proficiency. Topics covered include macros, programming, and loops, with an emphasis on automation and efficiency. The course is highly interactive, with practical exercises reinforcing key concepts. In the final sessions, we explore integration between Stata and Python, providing students with additional tools for empirical research.
